A comfortable space in the heart of nature.

VILLA ROSA

Villa Rosa, located in the historical village of Prato Leventina, offers 2 vacation apartments for a unique stay in the middle of nature.
A late 19th century mansion, bright yellow and elegant, the “VillaRosa” was completely renovated in 2014 to host seminars. At the end of 2021, Pascale and Mary decided to acquire it and transform it into a residence of 3 apartments and to live in one of them.

The property of more than 2000 square meters is occupied by an orchard of apple and plum trees, a vegetable garden is beginning to take shape while a hundred-year-old walnut tree stands in the middle of the terrace.

The house and the region are suitable for summer vacations as well as for sports activities in winter.

THE REGION

Prato leventina

The picturesque village of Prato Leventina (1043 m above sea level) is one of the hamlets of the municipality of Prato Leventina, which also includes Mascengo, Rodi, Morasco and Fiesso. The village occupied a strategic position on the transit routes, as shown by the remains of the medieval tower, which became the parish house in 1790. The first mentions of the church of San Giorgio, which overlooks the village, date back to 1210. The development in the 19th century of the railroad and the transit routes in the Leventine valley moved the center of the commune to the valley. The community house and the schools were built near the Dazio Grande and not in the hamlet of Prato Leventina. Prato, Mascengo and Dalpe are located in a green basin that has favored their development as tourist resorts. During the golden age of tourism in Faido, between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, many Milanese and confederates chose Rodi to build their summer villas. The development of winter tourism began around 1950 with the creation of vacation camp houses and the construction of second homes.

In the area

The Piottino Gorge can be reached on foot from Villa Rosa from the Dazio Grande. It is a discovery walk on a pleasant path built at the end of the Middle Ages: a 1.2 km route that can be covered in 30 minutes, with information panels and fun activities to discover this historic transit route. The road to the Piottino Gorge allows you to cross the almost 300 m difference in altitude between Faido and Rodi. The gorge, has been carved by the force of water in the granite (Leventina gneiss) for thousands of years. The first to venture to build a road through these impervious gorges were the Uranese in 1500. The canton of Uri used to get up to 2/3 of its income from tolls at the Dazio Grande.

A 5-minute drive from Rodi is the cable car that takes you to Lake Tremorgio and its mountain (1851 m), the starting point for breathtaking hikes through the mountains of the Leventine Valley, characterized by 650 km of trails surrounded by greenery that can be explored on foot or by mountain bike.

In Piotta, 10 minutes by car, there is a funicular railway (one of the steepest in the world) that will take you to Lake Ritom, the starting point for beautiful hikes.

In Airolo, 15 minutes by car, in summer and winter, you can reach the ski lifts that take you to Pesciüm, the starting point for crazy days of skiing, mountain biking or walking. You are in the Gotthard region at the gateway to the Bedretto Valley.

In summer, less demanding hikers can cool off at the foot of the Piumogna waterfall in Faido (10 minutes by car) in a unique and beautiful setting.
